Ed Luvz Erika

I wasn't expecting to meet Erika the evening I went out to my friends art opening in Santa Fe. When our mutual friends Dena & Bird introduced us, I immediately recognized a beautifully original intelligent person. From the beginning Erika shined as uniquely wonderful, smart, beautiful, & interesting! Erika had been helping people in Africa not far from where I'd been working and around the same time. We had common interest. Well-traveled Erika had adventures to talk about. She wore coconut earrings and had just arranged a table from a door she scored at a garage sale. Erika Ross had a non-materialistic functional style like no one I've met before. I knew we were destined to be great friends and maybe someday (: more :)

On our first date we walked down to the Santa Fe river's dry sandy bed. We talked about how fun a sand volleyball game might be or even a mid-summer campout in the sandy little canyon. She is full of positive attitude and game for fun and adventure on a moment's notice.

On a following adventure Erika explored a deep dark cave with me correctly named Diablo for its many hazards. We were diligent about saftey in and around the cave but then on the way to the car Erika fell crossing over a large rock pile. I was about five feet in front of her when I heard her squeek a light "ouch". We splinted the injured hand and arm with some string from our pack and branches from a sage brush. We drove to the hospital but on the way Erika asked me to stop by the salon for some super special hair product? I wondered how bad could she be hurt, barely a peep and then a stop at the salon? When we got the x-ray back it was obvious she had broken three bones in her hand. I was just beginning to learn that Erika has the soul of a quiet peacemaking thunder woman warrior. She walks lightly with a canon so to speak :) At the hospital that day I realized I'd already fallen in love with her. She constantly amazes me with her strength and loving kindness. 2B continuEd

Erika Loves Ed

Ed stood out to me when we first met. I had just moved to Santa Fe that day, and we were introduced at Yellowbird's gallery opening for the Indian Market. Ed had such intense eye-contact. He is so engaged and interested in people, but even more than his natural personality, something about his sincereity and enthusiams gave me butterflies. At the time, a relationship was the last thing I was looking for, so I had to look away sometimes because he gave me shivers with his sweet eyes. He told me that he had recently moved to Santa Fe also. When I asked, "Where from?", I was shocked to hear from Kenya. We had both been working in Kenya at the same, not even very far from each other. Then we found out we were neighbors in Santa Fe also.

On the way to dinner he asked about my job. It was only a week until I started work in Espanola. I was very excited and told him all about it. Most people respond by saying things like, "Oh, that's a great job" or "I have a friend that's a Physician Assistant". But Ed said, "Awesome. So you like helping people? Me too!" Again, I was impressed by his originality and optimism.

That night Dena and Yellowbird walked me over to see his place, telling me how helpful and what a great handy man he was. I was lucky to live right next to him. I was really intrigued by him and dropped by a few times in the next few days with excuses of needing help moving. Pretty soon I got an invitation from him for dinner. He was so attentive making dinner for me and making sure I was comfortable: he had even made me a bracelet. I thought to myself, "This guy is way too sweet. I've never seen such a nice guy. Hmmm... but does nice mean dull? be careful falling for him." After dinner he took me on a tour of the Santa Fe river. We sat in the sand and he told me about his many adventures kayaking in Central America and fugitive-style biking into Burningman. I then thought, "So he's not just a nice guy. This guy has more passion for life than anyone I've met. I can fall in love with him!"

Since then, I've only become more and more impressed with Ed's talents, his originality, his humility, his strength of character, and his passion. Although he is highly recognized for his accomplishments, it was weeks before I found out that he had a world-record, a design in the Smithsonian, and a life-jacket named after him (most of this was from his friends' comments even). He was more interested in me and our common ideas than boasting about himself. He treats me like a queen. I'm loving the idea of living with him more and more everyday. I don't feel like I'm giving up any adventures or freedom (which I used to think marriage meant) by binding myself to Ed. I am gaining the most wonderful partner and support for all the adventures to come.

Accomodations

There is plenty of beautiful space for camping at the house in Embudo where the celebration will be. Let us know if you want to camp! When the space fills up, there are also nice sites available a few miles north at the Pilar campgrounds.

Taos is 20 miles north, Espanola is 20 miles south, and Santa fe is 50 miles south.
